Lodging NORTH ISLAND TOP-2-BOTTOM

We stay in a variety of accommodations on the North Island Explorer tour including small motels, hotels, B&B's, lodges and holiday homes. Each place is chosen for its location and accessibility to our next adventure. In most places we try to stay in small, out of the way accommodations which are situated in areas giving us easy access to the nearby rivers, lakes, tracks etc. in order to use our kayaks, bikes, or go walking without having to travel far. Ahipara Accom

In all places, you can be assured of a private room, unless you choose to share with someone. Sometimes, you will also have a private bathroom, however many of the accommodations are share facilities, meaning that you might be staying in a two bedroom apartment, possibly with only one bathroom which you will be sharing with the person in the other bedroom. Or sometimes, we stay in holiday houses, which means you would be sharing the facilities of the house with other people. All come complete with unlimited hot water, comfortable beds and colorful owners. After a day jammed packed with activities, you’ll never have slept so well.

If you are travelling as a single person, and would like your own private bedroom in all places, you will be required to pay the single supplement. Please note that in the event that you pay the single supplement, you will have your own bedroom, however may still be sharing a two bedroom apartment and in some cases a bathroom.

If you are a single traveller and request a roommate, but one is not available, a forced single supplement of half the normal rate will apply. If you would prefer to have completely separate accommodation with private room and en suite bathroom, you will need to pay the Accommodation Upgrade.

"There were too many highlights to write down... the overnight cruise on Milford Sound was amazing, the Te Mahia Resort (pictured above right) in the Marlborough Sounds was beautiful and had lots of Tui's around. Uncle Tom's cabin in the Coromandel Peninsula was great, right on the edge of the water where we launched our kayaks and dinner and wine!" Jantina & Walter Tuthill, Top-2-Bottom tour, November 2003
