Routeburn
or Milford Track?

New Zealand is renowned for great hiking,
and the Routeburn and Milford Tracks are two of the best rainforest/subalpine
tracks in the country. Although the Milford Track is a fantastic
walk, we prefer to hike the Routeburn – and after reading
our reasons outlined below, we think you’ll agree.
Smaller group size and more opportunities
for views are two factors that have influenced our decision to hike
in this area. While the Milford regularly takes groups of 45, the
Routeburn is almost half that with only 24 people per group. This
makes logistics a whole lot easier and gives you more time with
your Guide.
On
the track, you’ll stay in staffed mountain huts equipped with
kitchen facilities, hot showers and drying rooms. Accommodation
is dorm-style (quad-share) and all meals are included. Meals are
prepared fresh daily and there’s definitely plenty of food
– a good thing considering the Routeburn Track takes you higher
in elevation! From mountains to valleys, alpine scenery to temperate
rainforest, the Routeburn has it all. As an added bonus, the Routeburn
receives less annual rainfall – something everyone appreciates.
We
know most people only have two weeks holiday, so our aim is to show
you the best of what the South Island and New Zealand has to offer.
Hiking for 3 days instead of 5 lets us maximize time in other special
places we think you’ll love.
